Principles Of Management

Order Description

Principle of Management

1.We study several personality models this week and learn how personality shapes the workplace environment. Last week you discovered your KTS-II personality type. Share with your colleagues in this forum what your personality type is (Guardian/Rational/Idealist/Artisan) and then discuss the following:
In what ways does personality inform how we interact with supervisors and coworkers at work?
What does the most current research indicate about how at least one facet of personality (e.g., conscientiousness, extraversion, emotional stability, agreeableness, and openness to experience) interacts with the work environment?
Provide one or more examples from your workplace experience to illustrate your points.
2.This week’s materials emphasize the complexity surrounding processes designed to maximize team efficiency and performance. For your initial post to this discussion forum, begin by describing how the impact of conflict on teams may be “good, bad, or ugly” and how conflict in some cases may be necessary to bring about desired outcomes. Then illustrate your position regarding at least one of these circumstances (conflict is good, bad, ugly, and/or necessary) by citing an example from a popular or academic source (i.e., an academic journal, popular or trade magazine, newspaper, broadcast, internet, etc.).
3.We learn in this module about some of the most common decision-making biases that get in the way when we try to optimize the outcomes of our decisions. Think of a time when you were a victim of one or more biases. What was the outcome? How might you bring about a different outcome if a similar experience occurred today? Support your comments by discussing one or more examples from the contemporary environment that parallel your experience. Cite at least one example from popular media (newspaper, radio, television, internet, podcast, etc.).
4.We learn in this module about some of the most difficult-to-avoid (and sometimes most common) obstacles to effective communication by managers. Describe an instance when your job was made more difficult and/or less pleasant because of poor communication on the part of your organization and/or manager.
What went wrong in that instance?
How could the negative impacts have been ameliorated or avoided?
Distinguish between various communication obstacles and apply strategies to mitigate their negative effects when dealing with organizations on a global scale.
Support your comments by discussing one or more examples from the contemporary environment. Using APA standards, cite at least one story from popular media (newspaper, radio, television, internet, podcast, etc.).
5.We learn in this module about the impacts that organizational culture and organizational structure have on outcomes that are important at the organizational, team, and individual levels, and internationally. Discuss the importance of organizational culture, what it impacts in the workplace, and how it shapes an organization ethically and globally.
Then, consider an organization with which you are, or have been, affiliated (whether professional, military, religious, civic, hobbyist, etc.). How do the concepts of culture and structure manifest themselves in the organization locally, nationally, and globally? How could they be improved?
6.We learn this week that change is difficult and, more often than not, inevitable. It is during change when managers need effective forecasting skills, both nationally and globally. Describe forecasting and managing future trends, development, and change with a focus on emerging markets in Developing countries. Explain why monitoring change in this specific global market is important to managers.
Describe the largest organizational change you have experienced. What was the impetus for that change? Did change management do a good job of removing or alleviating those obstacles? What impacts did the change have at the global level, organizational level, team level, and individual level?
7.We learn in this module about how managers address the needs of an increasingly diverse workplace. Considering the demographic trends of the United States and the global workforce, apply the most important principles of management to the context of diversity and its ethical implications in the workforce. List those principles, in order of importance, according to the knowledge you have gained through the readings this week and your personal experiences.
Provide one example from popular media (newspaper, radio, television, internet, podcast, etc.) and one from your own experience to illustrate your points.
