You should understand a bit about the author, what they studied or did as a vocation, how their childhood influenced their world view, and what mark they left on the field of environmental science and perhaps even the world at large. You should also explain whether the book was contentious and how it was received. This is a critical review, and you need to understand all aspects of this book. The structure of the paper should include an Introduction (note in APA style, you do not generally include a heading for the introduction) followed by three separate sections (i.e., Content, Delivery Style, and Assessment) and then a cohesive and persuasive Conclusion. Each of these sections should be a minimum of a paragraph, but it is expected that the Assessment will make up the bulk of the paper and should include several key points that you identified. The Assessment section is where you offer the real critique of the book. Be sure that you read the materials available in the Lessons throughout the course on the sections and style of a critical review, as this is not a research paper or a summary of the book. Keep in mind that the Assessment section should not be pure opinion. Yes, you will offer a critique of the book, but this must be supported by other writings, evidence from outside sources, etc. Submit the critical review paper in the Assignments section.
